Designed by Gymnastics Canada, CanGym is a progressive 12-badge program that takes an inclusive and developmentally appropriate approach for boys and girls aged five and older. Classes are based on fundamental movement patterns consisting of Statics, Landings, Locomotion, Swings, Springs, and Rotations. Each participant will build a foundation of physical competence and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthy and active living based on Gymnastics Canada’s three philosophical pillars of fun, fitness, and fundamentals.
Progress reports are given to each gymnast at the end of a session and Coaches complete the reports to indicate which skills the gymnast has “Attempted”, those they are still “Learning,” and those which have been “Mastered”. A participant completes a badge after mastering each skill in a level and receives a ribbon for each level passed. Some badges may take only one session to complete, while others may require multiple sessions.
